What about VAT ?

For second-hand car:

First check if you live in or outside the European Union. 

Check if you buy a car from a company or a private person. If you buy a car from a private person you won't have to pay VAT. Dependent on  buying a car from a company or reseller  pay attention if the car is with or without VAT.

example for a car with VAT : 

I am living in the European Union I DON'T HAVE a VAT number: you have to pay the VAT in the country where you purchased the car. You only pay VAT once.

I am living in the European Union I have a VAT number: you don' t pay VAT in the country where you purchased the car. Please be aware that you need a VALID VAT number at the moment of purchasing.I don't live in the European Union: you never pay VATYou need an EX1 with a stamp of the customs.
